Who we are:
Budondo Women Development Association (BUWODA) is a registered, community-based, non-profit women’s organization founded in 2019 in Budondo Sub-County, Jinja District, Uganda. Established by rural women in response to the pressing social and economic challenges in their communities, BUWODA is dedicated to empowering vulnerable women and supporting orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs).
We are motivated by a deep commitment to creating sustainable solutions that uplift families and transform communities.
Our work focuses on tackling interconnected challenges such as poverty reduction, education access, healthcare, child protection, gender equality, WASH, climate resilience, and social inclusion. By addressing these barriers, we aim to break cycles of poverty, strengthen families, and promote dignity, equity, and opportunity for all.
BUWODA envisions a community where women and children are free from violence and discrimination, have access to education and livelihoods, enjoy good health, and actively participate in shaping sustainable development. Guided by this vision, our mission is to empower marginalized women and children through education, health services, economic empowerment, advocacy, and community-driven initiatives that build resilience and inclusion.
