Who We Are
The Budondo Women Development Association (BUWODA) is a registered community-based organization (CBO) founded in 2019 in Budondo Sub-County, Jinja District, Eastern Uganda. It was established by a group of committed women leaders, volunteers, and community activists under the guidance of Mr. Mulago Ken Daniel, in response to the social and economic challenges affecting women, youth, and vulnerable children, including those with disabilities.
BUWODA was born out of the belief that sustainable community transformation begins with empowering women and strengthening families. Since its inception, the organization has grown into a trusted grassroots movement known for promoting empowerment, inclusion, and social change.
What We Do
BUWODA implements programs that address the most pressing needs in the Budondo community, focusing on:
-
Women and Youth Empowerment – Skills training, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.
-
Girl Child Empowerment - Supporting rural girls through education, mentorship, and advocacy to help them realize their rights and potential.
-
Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) - Ensuring access to education, psychosocial care, basic needs, and protection for children at risk.
-
Children with Disabilities - Promoting inclusion by supporting children with physical, sensory, and intellectual disabilities to access education, therapy, and community care.
-
Health and Well-being – Maternal health, sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR), HIV/AIDS awareness, and mental health support.
