Women’s Socio-Economic Empowerment Program

 

Purpose: To strengthen the economic independence and leadership of rural women.
 

Key Activities:

  • Vocational and life skills training (tailoring, crafts, agribusiness, ICT, etc.).

  • Establishment and strengthening of Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) and microfinance groups.

  • Entrepreneurship and business management training.

  • Market linkage support for women-led enterprises.

  • Leadership and decision-making capacity building for women leaders.

 

Expected Outputs/Results

  • Vocational and life skills training (tailoring, crafts, agribusiness, ICT, etc.):

    • Women and youth trained in employable skills annually.

    • Increased household income through self-employment and small businesses.

    • Improved self-reliance and reduced dependency in targeted households.

  • Establishment and strengthening of Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) and microfinance groups:

    • Functional VSLAs established or supported in Budondo Sub-County.

    • Women and youth gain increased access to savings, credit, and financial literacy.

    • Enhanced financial security and reduced vulnerability to economic shocks.

  • Entrepreneurship and business management training:

    • Women and youth trained in business start-up, record-keeping, and financial management.

    • Trained participants initiate or expand small-scale businesses.

    • Strengthened sustainability and profitability of women-led enterprises.

  • Market linkage support for women-led enterprises:

    • Creation of partnerships with local markets, cooperatives, and buyers.

    • Increased sales and income for women’s products and services.

    • Strengthened competitiveness of women entrepreneurs in local and regional markets.

  • Leadership and decision-making capacity building for women leaders:

    • Women leaders trained in leadership, advocacy, and negotiation skills annually.

    • Increased representation of women in community leadership and decision-making platforms.

    • Strengthened women’s voices in governance, advocacy, and policy dialogues.
