Child Rights Protection & Advocacy Program

The Child Rights Protection & Advocacy Program is designed to create a safe and supportive environment where all children in Budondo can thrive free from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Recognizing that children are among the most vulnerable members of society, the program works with families, schools, community structures, and local authorities to strengthen protection systems, raise awareness, and advocate for the enforcement of child rights and safeguarding policies.

 

Purpose
To protect children from abuse, neglect, and exploitation, and to strengthen community child protection structures.

Key Activities and Expected Outputs

  1. Child Protection Awareness and Community Sensitization

    • Increased awareness of child rights among parents, guardians, teachers, and community leaders.

    • Reduction in harmful practices such as child labor, neglect, and early marriage.

  2. Establishment of Community-Based Child Protection Committees

    • Functional child protection committees established across Budondo Sub-County.

    • Strengthened grassroots mechanisms for identifying and responding to child protection concerns.

  3. Referral Systems for Cases of Abuse and Neglect

    • Functional referral pathways established with schools, local councils, police, and health centers.

    • Increased number of reported and resolved child abuse cases.

  4. Training for Parents, Guardians, and Teachers on Child Rights

    • Parents, guardians, and teachers trained in child safeguarding annually.

    • Improved parenting skills and positive discipline practices.

  5. Advocacy for Enforcement of Child Protection Policies

    • Stronger collaboration with government agencies to enforce child rights laws.

    • Policy gaps identified and addressed through dialogue and campaigns.
